Job Summary:
As a Smart Tech Solutions Home Installation Technician, you will be a key part of our field team responsible for the hands-on installation of cutting-edge smart home systems. You will install, terminate, and test low-voltage wiring and devices, perform basic device software activation and setup, and ensure all work meets our high standards for quality and neatness. You’ll have the opportunity to work both independently on specific tasks or smaller projects and collaboratively with our experienced Lead Technicians.
We are currently seeking both Full-Time and Part-Time technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, terminate (including Cat6/RJ45 and Coax), and test various types of low-voltage wiring according to plans and industry best practices.
Mount and install smart home hardware with precision, including speakers, security cameras, network equipment, equipment racks, and high-end displays like Samsung Frame TVs.
Install and configure Lutron lighting controls (RadioRA 3, Homeworks) and automated shading systems – involving measuring, working safely at heights, and basic setup/leveling.
Perform initial device activation and basic software setup across various platforms (Google Home, Sonos, Nest, Lutron App), including naming devices, assigning rooms, and performing firmware updates.
Read and interpret floor plans, technical drawings (“Tech Floor Plans”), and project documentation. Strictly adhere to project checklists for consistent execution.
Meticulously document work performed using clear notes and required “Before, During, After” photos/videos uploaded promptly via Google Chat (our CRM/Project Hub).
Perform assigned solo service calls, effectively utilizing project notes, plans, and documentation in Google Chat to diagnose and resolve issues.
Interface professionally and clearly with clients on site. Includes check-in on arrival, reviewing planned work, providing updates, and checking out before departure.
Adhere strictly to all Smrter Home safety protocols, technical standards, and site rules (including meticulous site cleanliness and property protection).
Maintain assigned tools and assist with van organization/stocking; follow end-of-day check-out procedures.
Work effectively independently or collaboratively within a team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Strong technical aptitude with training or foundational experience in low-voltage installation, structured cabling, or related field.
Proficiency in terminating Cat6 (RJ45 T568B/A) and Coax (F-connector) cables.
Proficiency (or ability to quickly become proficient) with hand and power tools used in low-voltage installation.
Ability to perform basic software setup/activation for smart devices (training provided).
Ability to read floor plans/diagrams and follow detailed instructions.
Ability to work independently, manage time, and solve on-site problems.
Clear English communication skills (verbal and written).
Physical capability (lifting, climbing ladders, attics/crawlspaces).
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship (“Pride in Craftsmanship”).
Reliable, punctual, dependable, with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Additional Requirements:
Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Desired Skills (Helpful but Not Required):
Experience measuring/installing/setting up automated shades (Lutron experience preferred).
Experience with brands like Lutron (RA3/Homeworks), Sonos, Google Nest, UniFi/Araknis networking gear, security systems.
Technical school certificate or degree (Electronics, Networking, Electrical Tech, or related).
Previous field service in low voltage, AV, security, or electrical trades.
Basic IP networking knowledge.
Industry certifications (e.g., CEDIA CIT).
